I can't remember the time before deodorants, we depend on them like air to get through the day, but odour free if you pleeease. Problem is, regular deodorants and anti-perspirants, are chocker-full of chemicals that can cause skin irritation, clog the pores up and even make sweating much worse. Our natural deodorants can sort these issues, no prob. Guess What!! We're supposed to sweat, it's the way our bodies regulate our temperature and release toxins, two really vital jobs.
Anti-perspirants and chemical full deodorants block your pores and prevent the release of toxins and you do not need them to prevent body odour. Sweat isn't what smells, it's just a mix of salt and water, it's the reaction caused when it comes into contact with your skin bacteria that one begins to honk. Changing this reaction is easily achieved with our natural deodorants.
Antiperspirants work by closing up the pores to prevent perspiration, but this just means that sweat builds up under the skin. This can cause bumpy skin and painful irritation. If you have bad razor burns or irritated armpits, definitely consider making the switch! They can also make the sweating worse. Because The build-up of sweat beneath the skin also comes with a build-up of the good bacteria that actually digests sweat, limiting the ability your body has to digest any bad bacteria, making your sweat smell even worse. On top of it all, the aluminum compounds in the products can cause an acidic reaction to fabric, which is what makes those horrible sweat stains on your t-shirts.
Natural deodorants benefit your health. Our ingredients in deodorants limit the skin issues from their non-natural counterparts, but they also provide many benefits themselves. Natural deodorants don’t block pores, so that good bacteria keeps working, meaning less odour even when you’re not wearing any deodorant. An irritation-free armpit results in a closer (and longer-lasting) shave, and you can forget about worrying over your white t-shirt getting yellow pit stains.
How to switch to a natural deodorant. When you stop using deodorants with chemicals, your body starts detoxifying, the chemicals and aluminium compounds (yes aluminium!) will be pushed out, this may cause irritation. So don't panic give yourself time. When I made the switch, I felt it wasn't working at first, but after about a week, no problem, odours just disappeared. The main thing you need to keep in mind, whatever you were using before especially if it was a conventional deodorant, your underarms need time to adjust after releasing all those toxins and chemicals. This detox period is different for everyone which is why it’s important to stick with it for at least a couple weeks. Visit our deodorant page.
